“Food-grade” gets thrown around loosely. For paper food packaging, it means three verifiable things.
1. Food-contact board
Virgin or certified food-grade kraft and white board — not recycled back-liner. Ask for the test report covering your exact stock, not a generic mill certificate.
2. Grease barrier
A functional barrier layer (not just thicker paper) keeps oils from striking through on salad dressings, fried snacks and pizza cheese. Folded bases beat butt joints for saucy menus.
3. Compliant inks
Low-migration, food-safe ink systems on food-contact faces. All-over brand prints on wrap paper should be confirmed food-safe when they touch food directly.
4. What to send us
Menu type, hot vs cold, hold time (15 vs 45 minutes changes the spec) and whether the print touches food. Get a food-packaging quote →
